Meet Dana Barger, MA, LAC, NCC
Men's therapist in Tucson

I’m Dana Barger, a licensed professional counselor specializing in men’s mental health at Palo Santo Psychotherapy and Wellness in Tucson, Arizona.
I work with men who are intelligent, capable, and overwhelmed—and often unsure whether therapy will actually help. Many of my clients come in skeptical, guarded, or unsure how to even start talking. That’s okay.
My role isn’t to push you into emotional territory you’re not ready for.
It’s to help you:
-
Understand what’s driving stress, anger, or shutdown
-
Build flexibility instead of feeling trapped in the same reactions
-
Learn skills that make daily life more manageable
-
Address trauma without re-living it
My therapeutic approach blends Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-focused work, tailored specifically for how men tend to experience stress and pressure.
While my primary focus is men’s therapy, I also do limited work with women, primarily around borderline personality disorder, childhood trauma, dissociation, and identity development.
